Money and Happiness

In the journey of my life, I find there are many factors which can make us happy. Such as money, some people think that money is the first key to get the happiness. In fact, some people racing to earn a lot of money. There are some people who are proud to be rich. They think that everything can be bought by money. Whereas, money does not always determine the happiness.

I know everyone has his own definition of Happiness. And I guess happiness is not always about laughter. Sometimes, some people lie themselves to cover their tears. Happiness is not always accepting the luxurious gift. Happiness is not only we can buy whatever we want and need. Happiness is not satisfaction for a while. The real happiness is there inside the heart. According to Denis Whitley, “Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.”

Take for example, people who come from rich family have everything. They can fulfill anything they want and need. They can live on the big and luxurious house, they can travel using private car or motorcycle, they can go overseas with their money, they can visit many interesting places wherever they want, all things are possible. Those are some functions of money. As R.J. Thomas says that, “Money is something that is readily and generally accepted by public in payment for goods, services, and other valuable assets and for the payment for debts.”  It means that money can also use for payment electricity bills, telephone bills. We can pay service such as driver, helper and many things. Yeah, that is money!

Some rich people does not always feel happy even if they can fulfill their need. There is something in their heart. They need love because love can make all people feel happy. I have ever heard there is a girl who came from rich family. She lived in apartment. She had everything. But, when her parents died, she became feeling down. Although she can do anything with her money, it means nothing. The only one she needs is love. Perhaps she can visits karaoke to get happiness, she can visits theatre and it can’t give impact for her. When she comes back to her apartment, she is lonesome again. Because of it, money does not always give happiness. If it happens, supports and love from people in around her is very important. Imagine if only she has no friends?

Actually, money is badly needed in our life. We can not do anything without money. But, that is not a must to become money is just one key to get happiness. Everything that we buy to amuse ourselves, it is just satisfaction for a while. We can not lie when in the reality we are in the sadness.

Money can buy amusement. How about love and care? It can not be bought by money. To be happy is not always having a lot of money and be rich. If only it is just one key to get happiness, How about poor people? Should they always crying because they are poor? They live in a whole family but they have no much money. They can survive and support each other. They keep thankful to the lord. They keep going on their life, even if it is so hard materially. We have to know, they have heart which is inside full with love. We must realize that everything is surrounding us, is our happiness.
